ONE OF RAREST DCs KNOWN - HIGH GRADE - NEW ADVENTURE, #14, March, 1937

Inventory No: CHV-179

Issue: 14

Year: 1937

Publisher: D.C.

Description: THIS IS THE THIRD ISSUE OF DC'S HISTORIC ADVENTURE COMICS. The concept of an original material, adventure-oriented comic book was so novel back in 1937 that the title still has the word "NEW" in it! An extremely rare comic, filled with many of the top creators who would go on to be the leaders of the entire Golden Age. Just a few of the key staff with material in this issue includes Creig Flessel, Homer Fleming, and Whitney Ellsworth. Of even more importance to many is the story by the incomparable team of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (who will be forever known as the creators of Superm*n). This Siegel & Shuster material actually predates Superm*n's debut in Action Comics #1). Also important here is the full page ad for DETECTIVE COMICS #1 which is beautifully depicted on the back cover.

CONDITION is extremely nice. CGC grades it UNIVERSAL 6.0 with Light Tan to Off-White pages, noting only "very minor amount of glue on cover." The cover colors are especially deep and brilliant. In fact, this is one of the most attractive CGC 6.0 comics that we have ever seen. It may have been downgraded substantially for an unobtrusive 3" crease on the bottom right of the front cover (in the white area of the cover, so it does not show on the scan and does NOT "break the color"). SCANS: We are providing large scans so everyone can see how nice this is. The scans have some glare from the scanner (especially at the bottom of the front cover and the top of the back cover). Please be assured that the actual comic in the CGC case looks at least as nice as the 6.0 grade indicates. As an example of just how rare and impressive this comic is, in all the years that CGC has been grading comics, CGC has only ever graded this NAC #14 and two others. Only one has graded higher than this (just slightly higher, a 7.0.). The book we are offering here is extremely rare, historically important and looks superb!

Grade: 6.0
