Inventory No: CHV-311 CONDITION: is stunningly beautiful and nearly perfect, as this poster has been stored very carefully for the last thirty years. It has never been folded, which makes it ideal for framing and display. There is no restoration whatsoever, and this poster has never been mounted. We have examined thousands of one sheet movie posters over the decades, and can assure potential buyers that this poster is ESSENTIALLY PERFECT AND NEAR MINT. Ours is unquestionably one of the most attractive examples of this historic original poster surviving. AUTHENTICITY: There is, frankly, an amazing amount of misinformation circulating about Star Wars posters. Since this poster has been in our consignor's personal possession since 1977, we know first hand that it is authentic. However, anyone can verify the accuracy of this if they simply refer to the official "special edition" of the Summer 1985 "MOVIE POSTER COLLECTORS NEWSLETTER," which is subtitled the "Star Wars Saga: American One-Sheet Poster Checklist." This Checklist is the only truly authoritative, finely detailed reference about Star Wars posters that we can recall having seen. The Checklist was PRODUCED IN COOPERATION WITH LUCASFILM ITSELF. According to the Checklist, our poster #77/21-0 is a FIRST PRINTING of the Style A Star Wars one sheet poster. The 77/21-0 code on our poster is indented precisely as shown on the checklist. Further, as the Checklist states, some of these authentic 77/21-0 posters were released folded, and some were released rolled (like ours). It is printed on the correct "heavy paper stock" (less heavy, of course, than that used for inserts or half sheets), which has a "coated (somewhat shiny) finish." The poster we are offering, just like the "First Printing" example clearly pictured in the Checklist, mentions the soundtrack in relatively small print. However, our poster is not the later edition that was produced for record stores (the later "record store" poster, which mentions the soundtrack in large print, is also detailed in the Checklist, which clearly states that the record store poster came out after our poster). This poster has the appropriate NSS exhibition notice, a sharp and clear GAU image, the 1977 copyright notice is correctly indented, and there are no stray black lines near Luke's belt (see detail scans). We encourage anyone interested in authenticity details simply to consult the LUCASFILM-APPROVED CHECKLIST described above. This magnificent poster will be shipped rolled as it has been stored rolled.
